WW1 9th Scottish Division Helmet badge/flash.

9th Scottish Divisional thistle badge. Hand constructed in fine blue wool and applied to a khaki drill backing.
Most likely worn on a helmet cover as is too large in my opinion to have been worn on the tunic sleeve.
The white metal thistle usually encountered as a divisional sign for this division is tiny by comparison.
Rare survivor and the only example I have ever owned.
